Wireless router won't transmit the internet.?
-
I have a Linksys WRT160N wireless router, that until Tuesday was working perfectly (fully setup with WPA2 security and everything, no issues at all). Then my internet service went out, and finally today I got it back, but now I cannot get the internet to work through the router. The internet is working perfectly fine from modem to computer, but when I go from modem to router, it will not transmit it wirelessly, nor will it transmit it from another cable to the computer. I have reset the router numerous times (hard reset, etc), I updated to the latest linksys fimware (1.52 or something), and I even went and downloaded and installed DD-WRT onto it (correctly too, starting with this versions initial file, following all instructions, then with the upgrade to standard, following all the instructions), and yes, the DD-WRT settings pages work perfectly fine, however it still will not transmit the internet in either fashion. I have shut off all antivirus and firewalls, and checked on other computers, and still haven't gotten it to go through. At first I feared that my router got fried Tuesday night, and thats the end of it, but I pulled out an old truemobile router (which as far as I know, works perfectly fine, but can't exactly test that now), and it won't work either. It transmits a signal perfectly fine, but just does not give internet access, neither wirelessly or hardwired again. I called up my internet provider, and they just told me that they "do not support routers" and "cannot provide technical assistance concerning routers" and gave me linksys phone number. I haven't called linksys yet, and want to see if I can get anything fixed or working first... I really don't understand what is happening, that two routers won't allow me to hardwire into it and access web from it... I'd think I'm doing something wrong, but theres not exactly any more options than "internet" and "port 1, 2, 3, 4", allows for 2 combinations, tried both, neither work, so quite unsure what exactly happened. Please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
you should reset it idk if you did this but usually with Linksys routers wireless things their should be a reset button all you do is hold it for about 45 seconds you should see the lights turn off and then turn on and then it should reset again same thing off then back on make sure you got your ethernet cord that you receive internet from plug into your internet slot on your router then all the other computers that you have connected in the 1 2 3 and 4 slots if you have anything plug in their then after the reset of 45 seconds make sure to hold it down for 45 seconds then restart your computers and then you should have internet cause usually when stuff gets turned off then the router losses its configurations and that should work if not let me know :)
