How does replacing a router work?

New Modem? Will it work with AT&T/SBC?

  • I've recently been looking at replacing the Speedstream 4100 that AT&T gave me with a D-Link Modem that has a wireless router built in. I just need to know if this will work with ATT&T/SBC DSL Service. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16825112006

  • Answer:

Ya, that'll work, but it would be cheaper to buy a normal wifi router than connect it's WAN port to the SpeedStream modem. That way if you ever switch to cable internet you just change out the ISP provided modem connected to the WAN jack of your wifi router.
