How can I change my IP address ?

I have a private ip adress of sort 192.168. . how can i change this into public address for making a server .?

  • i am connected to an isp which provides me its private address. i dont have a router of my own and wanted to use the router of my isp for hosting server on my desktop. how can i change my private ip to public ip address . can i make my server accessible through ip address of type 192.168.* .* .plz help all the good people outthere.

  • Answer:

You can't. You can talk to your ISP about giving your network a fixed public address, but that 192.168.x.x is mandatory for computers on a local area network (a home network). Contrariwise, if you have a 192.168.x.x address, you do have a router, probably built into your modem. 192.168.x.x addresses won't even go out over the Internet. They literally get directed to "black holes". http://whois.domaintools.com/192.168.1.1 Sorry.
