Is there a way to fix home folder permissions remotely?

Where are my security permissions for windows xp?

  • I would like to set permission such as right, read, full, etc...for files and printers on my computer. I already have them sharing, but there is no way for me to set the permissions. From web research, I see that you can add or remove users, and grant whatever permission for users such as guests. But I don't see them when I go to right click a folder. I'm using NTFS on windows xp home. Do I need to have another version or what? I have a wireless connection at my home, and sometimes my nieces and nephews come over with there laptops and want get online. I don't mine, but I don't want them in all my folders that I share. Some are okay. I also don't want them printing to any of three printers that I have without permission. What do I need to get started so that I can start designating permissions?

Hi, There are various inbuilt OS tools with which you can change the NTFS permissions however modifying service accounts permission could give you a hard time with your PC/Notepad. You can use Cacls/Xcacls.vbs to modify ACL's.
