Best free DNS servers?

Can someone help me find my DNS servers please?

  • In order to set up an static IP address I need to know what my DNS servers are. I've used ipconfig/all and It has only given me one. Not only this, but it is the same as my default gateway, which I know it shouldn't be. I have been told that to find the DNS server I need to either look on the routers status page or to contact my ISP, which is Talktalk (I live in the UK). I can't find the routers status page and I would prefer not to ask my ISP. My router is a D-Link DSL 2640R. Does anyone know how I can access it's status page, and if not, does anyone know of another method to find the DNS Servers? I need both preferred and alternate. Thanks for reading my question, and any help would be...... well helpful. Cheers

    Your default gate way is your router, you should be able to access the router configuration by opening your browser and accessing http://router address which is generally http://192.168.1.x where x is an address. Larry's answer is correct, but specifying your router as the DNS server will work as long as your router is acting as a NAT device. This is because the router simply passes along any DNS requests to your ISP's DNS servers that it cannot route manually.

I fixed it by setting my routers DNS servers manually (Primary 62.24.199.13, secondary 62.24.199.23) rather than letting it get them automatically. google dns servers talktalk i found this
