How to transfer files via Ad Hoc connection?

Is there a way to transfer files between 2 pc's via an ad-hoc network setup?

  • Please tell me how if possible.. Thanx!

  • Answer:

You have not indicated if your 2 computers are USB outfitted. Assuming they are just go out and buy a relatively cheap USB memory card usually around 1g in capacity. Plug it into the computer you want to transfer from and copy the file/s to the memory card then move the card to the other computer and copy from the memory card to the hard drive. The memory card effectively becomes another drive while connected to the computer. If not outfitted with USB then consider wireless networking as this is far less messy than wires and the hassles of correctly aligning the cable ends without using a networking hub.

this only works on vista. or so i know of. first look at the bottom right hand corner of ur desktop. u should c 2 computers overlaced by a globe. right click it and click connect to a network. then click on the lower left hand link "setup a connection or network" chose the fourth option "set up a wireless network or connection." follow the setup and then connect the other comp. using the somewhat same method. just dont set up two different networks.
