How to create your own IP?

• I have a wireless adapter for my DSi, it won't connect unless i have the IP, the adapter's IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway are not accepted by the DSi so i have to create a new one. I do good til i have to create a Gateway, it the says that the gateway is not on the network segment as defined by the subnet mask. How can i fix this?

  Your IP and gateway should have the same number for the first 3 octets. ex. IP: 192.168.1.100 Subnet 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 Confirm from a pc on your network that your gateway ip is correct by start>run>cmd ->in the resultant box type "ipconfig" without the quotes. This will give you your correct gateway, an example ip and the correct subnet for your network. Choose an IP for your DSi that is NOT one already used by a PC on your network but that is the same for the first 3 octets and add 10 or so to the last octet. Set the subnet and gateway to exactly the same as the pc's on your network. Based on the example above: DSi = IP: 192.168.1.110 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 gateway: 192.168.1.1
