• The other day I got an email from my internet service provider saying I downloaded a torrent file that was copyrighted.... I don't use or need torrents or a torrent downloader... if someone connected to my wireless network, could they have downloaded something to their computer and made it look like it was from me because it was on my network? And can I find out who did it???

  You will never trace them unless they are within your own household or office. If you are not using encryption you are asking for trouble, and NOBODY will help you if you get into trouble. Do NOT waste time trying to find someone, set up encryption on your wireless connection IMMEDIATELY. Apart from the fact that EVERY transmission can be seen by anyone with a wireless machine, making all your clear text user names, passwords, emails and sites visited public, by the time you finish reading this a local criminal could have sent thousands of child porn or money scam emails from your connection. If this traces back to you it is YOUR door the police will break down (literally), and ALL your equipment they will confiscate.
