How To Increase Samsung Mobile Net Speed?

How do I increase my internet speed on a wireless network in a guest house?

  • My home currently has a working wireless network but I would like to incorporate a neighboring guest house into it (approx. 200 ft away). Using a laptop I've checked and I currently get 2-3/5 bars connection at the guest house and running a speed test I get around 1.2 mb/s DL speed and .5 mb/s upload. Using the same laptop at my main home (with 5/5 bars) gets around 9.7 mb/s DL and .8 mb/s upload. What can I do to increase the speed at the guest house? I've read about range extenders/boosters/repeaters, would these increase the speed or just increase the range?

Think in terms of what is technically going on there. A wireless router has a wireless radio inside and a small antenna (again, inside in most cases). Your laptop has a wireless radio and a small antenna inside as well. The speeds you are getting are great for that distance but radio waves are easily altered by interference or lessened from distances due to radio wave absorption, deflection, reradiation and a bunch of other crazy possibilities. However, you are not out of luck. Since you are dealing with radio waves you basically want to increase the chances of the signals reaching points A and B so there are common sense options here. Try this: > Router: Move your Wireless router so that it is closer, on the same side of the house and maybe even near a window (but definitely keep it away from power boxes, transformers / power packs, fluorescent lighting, cordless phones, radio controlled toys and microwave ovens). > Laptop: Move it closest to the wall near the direction of the router, near a window can be better and keep it away from interfering devices. Additionally ** try a USB wireless device, put it on a short USB extension cable and lay it up higher or closer in the direction of the Signal. The range boosters basically retransmit the signal. Speed comes from a couple different factors. One, depends on the strength of the signal and second if there is any interference. In other words, there is nothing that can boost the speed without replacing equipment or adding professional grade equipment in both your laptop and router or switch where you join the rest of the network. So those devices are boosting power of the signal (reradiating a more powerful signal) in hopes it can now reach your destination. So any speed gained from using range extenders/boosters, etc is a result of the better signal. Not a result of speed boosting. Speed comes from a good signal,..

Ya, a repeater would probally be your best bet to boost the signal strength

Go to the attic room or roof and try out.
