Can I connect my blackberry to the home internet?

My laptop won't connect to the Internet using public WiFi?

  • I have a Sony Vaio laptop that I use to connect to the Internet. I have to connect with dial up at home but usually connect using public WiFi at local restaurants. Everything worked gone as of 2 days ago. Today I tried to connect to the Internet with public WiFi at 2 different places but it would only connect "local" and not open Internet Explorer. My wireless was turned on. The only thing I had done in the last 2 days was install Blackberry Manager, which I uninstalled today. Can you tell me what to do?

  • Answer:

I had trouble with the ethernet adapter on my viao. Either try system restore to when it was working, or take it in to a professional to check out.

Check your TCP/IP, Proxy Server and DNS Settings: 1. Click on Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings. Make sure that only the "Automatically detect settings" box is marked. The rest (including the Proxy Server) should be left unmarked. If you are are also using another browser like Firefox, click on Tools or the orange Firefox tab > Options > Advanced > Network > Connection Settings. Select "No Proxy". 2. For XP, click on Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections. Right click on Local Area Connection. Under General tab, select TCP/IP. Click Properties. Under the General tab, select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". Click OK to close. For Vista or 7, click on Start and type "network and sharing center" (w/o the quotes) and hit Enter. Click on Local Area Connection > Properties. Scroll down and look for TCP/IPv4 Click Properties. Under the General tab, select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". Do this for IPv6 also. Click OK to close. And next time you ask questions about computers, at least tell what your OS is.

That doesnt help at all, What do you expect us to do from this end.. You havnt given us any information what so ever on how to help you or what the problem is.. All your saying is that when you connect to wifi it says local only... Well since your absolutely no help ill give you a solution that should solve your problem within a few minutes... If your saying you havnt done anything different to mess it up in anyway then you can always restore to an earlier restore point saved on your computer just in case anything messes up on your comp.. Im guessing you have your restore points turned on, as do most people usually.. so do this step by step.. Click start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore> then go back to the last date your computer was functioning properly.. Lets say you last used it on November 2nd and it worked fine online no problems. find the closest restore point before November 2nd. Then restore your settings and itll restart and you should be set... Good luck and dont screw it up and if you do just remember this quick and simple solution...
