Static ip address not working in virtual xp mode?

• Hi, I am running a windows 7 pro machine. i installed virtual windows XP pro and i am trying to statically assign a ip address through virtual XP mode but can not connect/ping. i can ping via windows 7 but the application only works with windows XP. i have noticed that the driver on XP is a generic nic driver, tried to update with correct driver but unsuccessful. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Aaron

  Wish I had an answer. I have not truly explored XP mode because it really does seem as though it is useless. I mean thee may be some business applications worth a TON of money that need to run on XP.XP mode seems to be reallly really stupid. It seems to be an XP world unto itself barring everything around it. By that I mean I installe dand then attempted to play an older game not compatible with 7 and it did install and got a bit further but ultimately failed becuase my system's hardware did not meet the recommended specs. I have a 2500K, GTX 570 Classified HD 1280MB GDDR5 $359 video card, 8 GB RAM, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Retail Edition in addition to the rest of my computer. I mean it was built only a few months ago. Yet XP seems to run in an environment of its' own choosing which seems to be sorta similar to your issue. THe GFX card that XP reported was some archaic generic driver and gfx card instead of the driver and card I have. Not too sure about the benefits of XP mode. I really don't have enough issues with 7 to even think about figuring out the level of insanity necessary to construct this virtual OS. On top of everything else XP mode is painfully slow even on a fairly powerful system such as mine.
