Why won't my computer connect to the internet?

Why wont my computer connect to the internet, but my mothers laptop will?

  • Both my computer and my mums laptop connect to our router wirelessley. Both computers can connect to the router, both can edit and save settings on the router fine. However my computer does not allow me to access any websites, or do anything on the internet. The most it can do is access the router settings, trying to visit a website throws the "Page cannot be displayed" message up. My mothers laptop however can access the internet fine, infact I'm writing this from her laptop. I'm using McAffee Virus scan, i've tried disabling the firewall, still no luck. I've just come back from uni where I've been using a wired ethernet connection for a month, I come home trying to use the wireless but it's not working. Can anyone help?

  • Answer:

Try opening up the Network Connections on both computers and see where the difference is. Good luck!
