How to share files between two computers?

How do you share files especially documents from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on two different computers found i?

  • I have two computers in the same home. My old one with all of my stuff (documents, pictures, etc.,) on it which is Windows Vista and my new one which is Windows 7. I have allowed access by having the right settings allowing files to be shared but still can not see all of my files that I have on my Windows Vista older computer. Important documents and a lot of my pictures. Only some pictures are showing up and no documents? Does it have something to do with where they are located? Password sharing? I turned it on and then off. Still no luck. Do I have to have a user account on both computers to be the same? There are empty picture folders coming up on my new computer but nothing in it? I'm confused. Can someone explain it to me in English. If both my computers were Window 7 than I wouldn't be having this problem?

  • Answer:

You are correct. There are certain folders which are only available on the current computer even if you enable file sharing which you mentioned you did. Another factor is the user, each user has different file permissions, be sure the user account you are using has full administrator access. This will allow you to view all of the files. http://www.dropbox.com Drop-box allows you to save/view and move files between computers with any operating system on any computer that has an active internet connection.
