How can I use my laptop and iPhone as a WiFi repeater?

I recently got an Xbox, but it is in the room furthest from the router and can't get a stable connection. The router can't move closer because it must be next to the 1 cable internet line in the house. I want to know if there is a way to set it up so that I can use my iPhone to receive the signal and transmit it via MyWi to my laptop which can then set up a network bridge transmitting the network from the onboard wireless card. I tried getting it going before, and my laptop could use the internet from my phone fine. Yet when I went to the Xbox network connections it couldn't connect to the network my laptop was transmitting (not just the internet, but the network as a whole). What can I do to make it so my Xbox accepts my laptop's hotspot?

Here's a simple fix for your xbox internet problem, but it may cost 60-80 bucks , but it WORKS i use it and it's great XBOX have a hard time connecting through multiple repeaters, and if you did get your xbox to connect your NAT setting will be FOR SURE STRICT which sucks for most games so heres the solution get a NETGEAR Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter Kit because it works as a long ethernet cable through your outlets.
