How do I hook up my PS3 to the internet. I have computer in same room with cat5 wire. Hook up wireless?

Lets do the the simple way Go to Office Depot or any other computer store Get a basic Ethernet Switch (not a router, not a hub - a switch) A 4 port switch will set you back about $20.00 Get a couple of Ethernet Patch cables (one long and one short). Make sure the long one is long enough to get from your computer to the PS3 Connect the power supply to the switch and plug it in Unplug the Ethernet (Cat5 cable) from the computer and plug it into the switch (any port) Plug the short patch cord into the computer and the switch (again any port) Plug the long cable into the PS3 and into the switch (any port) That's it - no programming, no setup The switch is transparent to the network and both the computer and the PS3 are now connected to the router Have Fun

No YOu cannot use your computer as a source of internet connetion. You should connect a router and use it to distribute the internet. Else remove the connection of the Computer and put it in the PS3 while not in use. Just use a converter. Hope this helps you out. Happy Holidays

Erm, No. You router is your "door" to the internet. If your router is wireless then just connect to it, if it hen you need to connect your PS3 to router via ethernet. On the other hand if your laptop has wireless you could try searching for a 'wireless hotspot' software program, this will turn your laptop to a wireless hotspot which your ps3 will connect to then your latop will do the work connecting to the router. I havnt done this but what i have given your should be a good starting point. Hope i helped.
