How to improve xbox live connection?

Does having a 2.0 usb port improve a better xbox live connection?

  • Before you wonder what the hell i'm on about, i connect my ethernet cable from my xbox to my computer, and computer connects to internet box adapter, which then connects to internet box downstairs. However the live is very laggy. But whenever i disconnect my internet adapter in general it says this device can perform faster, install usb 2.0 port or something along the lines of that. Would this make the connection to live lag a bit less or what?
