How to set up a wireless network on a home computer for a laptop to connect to wirelessly?

My auntie has a Compaq desktop, belkin wireless router and a DSL cable modem I followed the steps to connect the network cable from modem-->router and connected the computer with a network cable from computer-->router The computer is connected to the internet and here i am asking this question; How to set up a wireless network on a home computer/desktop for a laptop to connect to wirelessly? I have a Toshiba laptop and currently don't have any networks I can connect to and would like to connect to my auntie's computer How do i set up the wireless network?

Answer:
You have to set up the router to be wireless. It will be in the manual how to do it. Make sure you enable security. WPA is better than WEP. Once this is done your laptop's wireless adapter should see the Belkin wireless router by its SSID and you can connect.

As the person said above me, you are connecting to the router, not the computer. You are going to have to go onto the router and set up the wireless settings manually. Setting the password and broadcasting the SSID are just some of them. If you are actually wanting to connect to the computer, you are going to have to install a wireless card into the computer (desktop) to connect to it and then have to change a lot of settings.
