How do you set up a wireless printing network for your home?

How do I set up a pre-existing home network for phone and internet?

  • Hello, I have a house with a pre-existing CAT5 wiring throughout the house. The wall jacks already accept RJ45, and all the wiring comes together in the master bedroom closet behind a removable panel. The CAT5 comes bundled together down the wall and into a punch down block. This punch down block is used to connect all the CAT5 to the feeder wire for home phone that comes from outside. I do not currently have a home phone, but it might be a possibility down the road. The easiest way to convert this over to be used for home networking would be to remove all the CAT5 from the punch down block, put RJ45 connectors on the ends of the wires, and plug them into my network switch. By doing that, I wouldn't be able to use the wiring for a home phone without ripping off all the connectors and putting everything back the way it was. Anyways, my question is, would it be possible to set up my CAT5 network for both phone and for networking at the same time? I've heard of doing something called a "four wire" network, but I'm not really sure what that is or how to set it up.

  • Answer:

it uses your rj-11 wire same as standard phone its slow and not reliable but rj-45 is the way to go (cat 5 wire) and yes you can set it up for both
