How to input a WEP key?

I need my wireless "wpa/wep KEY" - Help!?

  • My son was on my computer and disabled our wireless network, and in order to reconnect it, it says that I must input the WEP KEY.....but I misplaced where I wrote the code down. Is there any way I can find my WEP key without using the internet. (remember i cant use the internet because I NEED THE WEP KEY!) so is there any other way I can go into somewhere in the computer and find it?

    The easiest thing to do would be to find the small reset button on the back of the router and push it in with the tip of a pencil or pen for about 5 seconds. This will reset the router to the factory settings. This means that you will lose all of your network settings such as the network name and password. Then set the router up the same way you did when you originally purchased it

No. You need to connect to the router with a network cable, log into the router as described in the manual and then go to wireless security. Read the key.

look on the bottom of your router. there will be a sticker with the wep key printed on it.

You need to connect your computer physically to the router with a network cable. If you have another computer already connected to it, that will work to. You need to access the router. The Ip address for it is probably 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 . Not sure if you reset the username and password on it, but if you didn't, it is probably teh default that came with the router. Something like admin admin, or admin password, etc etc. Then in there you can find the security area in the settings and find the WEP code.
