Does the Blackberry Bold 9700 have WiFi?

Can you call people from your wifi network with a blackberry 9700?

  • i have a blackberry bold 9700 and i was told by the customer service person that i can use my house wifi to call other people and i will not get charged my minutes. i was wondering if it was real or i had been duped and if i needed a special program

  • Answer:

Yes you can do this, no special software required, however your minutes allowances would normally still apply. But if you have been advised differently by customer service then they should know. Give them another call, get a name, ask the question and keep the details just in case you get billed. Wireless access is mainly used by those with poor mobile reception, I have used wireless for two years in such a situation, it's not perfect but gives access to mobile services. Paul

Yea you need a special program. I hear Google has a new chat program that will call home phones. The question is if they have a blackberry version, I don't know. http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/2010/08/26/google_chat_gets_phone_call_capability_for_us_users People use WiFi on their phones because it "should" be faster than the cellular connection, if your router is hooked up to Cable or fast DSL
