How To Connect (Via DD-WRT) To A Device Known By Its MAC Address?

How do you uninstall DD-WRT from a linksys WRT54G router?

  • I've tried everything I've seen on the internet but the stuff i have tried doesn't work. -I am running: -Windows Vista: Home Premium 32-bit system -Linksys WRT54G wireless router v8.0 or 8.1(website would give the version just these two versions) -DD-WRT micro_generic.bin The stuff I've tried to remove DD-WRT gives an error message that says it can't connect to the router and the DD-WRT firmware update screen just says update fail when ever i try to use it. The reason I'm removing it is because the internet bridge connection will only stay up for a few minutes then disconnect forcing me to reset the router completely to get the connection back.

  • Answer:

You may want to visit the cisco/linksys support site and download the router's original software. you may need to use a "TFTP" or Trivial FTP program to connect to the router and upload the image file. have you tried the 30/30/30 hard reset? it will wipe out any changes on the dd-wrt router, and bring it back to a default dd-wrt settings. the router woul end up with all default settings and the ip address of the router would be 192.168.1.1 you would need to set your computer's ip address to be 192.168.1.x (where x could be 2 thru 254). That may get you into the router with a clean enough system that the web based upgrade may work. another idea, you may be trying to load an image larger than flash memory available. Which of course would fail every time. Good Luck!
