How much does the Xbox 360 wireless network adapter cost with tax?

Wirelessly connecting my Xbox 360 to my network without the network adapter?

  • Ok, so I recently reclaimed my 2nd Xbox from a friend that was borrowing it. Coincidentally, my DVD player in my living room stopped working. I'd like to connect my 2nd Xbox to my wireless network but I don't want to spend any money on Microsoft's ridiculously priced network adapter. Could I just use a wireless router connected to my Xbox instead, in place of the network adapter? Here's what I'm talking about: http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/2648/networky.png Would it be possible to link the router connected to the Xbox to my other router? Will a router even connect directly to an Xbox?

  • Answer:

What you need is called a Network Bridge. This allows you to connect a router to an existing LAN. Some routers can do this, but most cannot. However, you can download third party router software that can be installed on Linux based routers that will allow you to bridge. I do this at home with two Linksys WRT54G routers to connect my XBox. Here's one of the most popular packages. The software is free, but not all routers are supported. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_Bridge
