How to connect to the Internet on CentOS?

How do I restore an internet connection, which to my laptops can connect to wirelessly?

• I have a desktop computer with broadband connection and a router, and two laptops were connected wirelessly to the internet. Recently one laptop lost internet connection, and the wireless network (ABC123) did not appear on the list of available networks. The next day, the laptop connected to ABC123 automatically as per usual, however the internet dropped out again within approximately one minute, and ABC123 did not appear on the list of available networks. A few days have passed, and neither laptop has been able to connect to the internet. The desktop computer was able to connect to the internet for a day or so after the laptops were unable, however today it was also unable to. A trouble-shooter on the desktop computer made a new internet connection, called ‘Network 2’, and I am able to access the internet again. However, it does not work if the router is disconnected, which seems unusual. I don’t believe it is the wireless network of a neighbour, because I have never seen it listed before on the laptops. Neither laptop lists ‘Network 2’ as a wireless network to connect to, however the second laptop does list ‘ABC123’, but attempting to connect to it fails every time. How do I create (or restore) a single internet connection, which the laptops can connect to wirelessly? Thankyou for your help in advance! PS: The desktop computer and both laptops use Windows 7, if that makes any difference.

• Answer:

  Turn off all computers, the router and the modem. Turn the modem on, wait for the lights. The do that for the router and then each computer. This happens from time to time.
