Windows Vista Microsoft Word help?

Mass Deployment of Windows Vista - Default Profile. IT Admins here??? HELP.?

  • I'm in a serious bind. I have 300 computers that *must* be running by the start of school. Thing is, I'm leaving in 2 weeks. If I can get this thing running, in 2 days flat I can have all 300 in all buildings imaged. I have the profile set up the way I want on the local administrator account. I just need to get it to the default user profile. But the thing is, I'm so stuck. All other school districts in the area are avoiding Vista. The Microsoft forums haven't been able to help cause nobody on those forums are using Vista for business use. I understand default profiles in Vista are different than XP, and that the profiles in Vista have permissions and whatnot. I'm a bigtime Linux guy. I know permissions. I got that. But damn I can't figure this out! Is there any IT Admins here who have done mass deployment of Windows Vista that have had to set up a default profile? If so, can you tell me what steps you took? I need to find exact steps on "This is exactly how you do this, word for word." I'm under severe pressure. I'd love to hear what you guys can help me with. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Vista's entire FS is different than xp but if you research Server 2008 or Windows Home Server you will find an easier way of deploying the OS on the client systems.
