Should I install my own internet or have ComCast do it?
-
I'm moving and have to use Comcast with cable and internet. For $50 they will 'set up my internet'. What does that entail and can I do it? I can plug the modem in but not sure what else is involved.

Answer:
if you can plug in the modem and then open a web browser then save your $50.

I have had to teach Com Cast installers how to do their job - and fix their errors. There is little to setting things up to screw up but they are particularly gifted in making these errors. I do them myself. Then again I am a network engineer - to me this is trivial (but don't ask me to do really hard things like painting a picture or painting a car for that matter as it is no where near my abilities).
That's really all it involves.
No, you can do it yourself. Ask them for the Lan Settings Your email incoming and outgoing address Port numbers for email too You can also find the info online
