Impossible, no 2 devices can have the same IP address on a network. Hooking it up that way would immediately cause an ip conflict and neither device would work. Considering you could even get an IP address with it connected that way
no, the xbox and pc should go through a router if you want them connected or a modem/router. this is how you media share from different rooms etc, i have used a netgear modem router, the xbox and pc go online via it and media share
