How do I connect to my home computer from my school computer?

Help with connecting my school laptop to the internet at home?

  • Today I got my school laptop (Queensland, australia, government laptops. They are Acers that run on windows7) I need to connect it to MY internet at home. We've already been told we are allowed to and that we can use facebook etc on them with our own internet. I tried plugging my Bigpond Wireless Broadband (one of those little usb things) into it, but it won't install it. I also tried plugging it into my OTHER computer and trying to connect to the network but that wont work either. I really want to use it on the internet tonight! Can anyone help me? 3: The issue is that whenever I go to network internet

  • Answer:

If you have more than one machine on your connection you need to replace the USB modem with a router, for a laptop preferably a wireless router. You will NOT be able to install modem software and if you do it will interfere with connecting anywhere else. Using a router all you need is to plug in a network cable, or use the wireless connection. This does not need ANY additional software.

Does your Laptop detect the Bigpod when you connect it? if it does you may have to install it before starting to use it and to do so there should be a CD with your wireless broadband or otherwise get the driver from the companies website.
