Xbox Live Connection Problems?

  • Alright, so I have this problem when i play a game over xbox live (Black Ops), I start a match with a 4 bar connection, but about 2 min into the match I suffer through severe lag and the "connection interrupted" on-screen text. Then I get booted from the match saying that I couldnt connect to the host. And occasionally, I am kicked of of xbox live entirely. My connection is setup through internet connection sharing, my laptop recieves the wireless network, and i share that connection to my xbox via ethernet. I recently reinstalled Windows 7 and this problem arose. I have never had a problem like this before. I have tried disabling my firewall, changing my NAT, DMZ, and port forwarding. All with no success. QoS is the other process i am looking into, however, i have no clue how to use it. My router/modem combo is Actiontec GT704-WG-B. Thanks in advance

throw it in the garbage and get a ps3..

the fact athat your adding another tech into the mix(your laptop ) which is very complicated probably is what messes up everything. try plugging ur xbox dirrectly into ur modem. if the problem dosent ahppen then its ur lapotop

Well you might want to try what was already suggested, which is plugging it directly into the modem to see if the problem persists. If it does, then your laptop may be running background processes on the internet such as driver update checks, windows automatic update, or iTunes or something. Usually when I play on my Xbox, I disconnect my laptop from my wirless modem ( I have the new Xbox S with internal wireless ) and that helps sometimes. Also, you are having to go through more trouble by going through your laptop. Even though your ping/latency/lag would be -more- since you are tethering from your laptop (the modem must go wireless, then through the laptop's drivers and such before reaching the xbox), you still shouldn't be disconnected that often. Another thing you can try is changing out the ethernet cable, or it may be your laptop's adapter... At my friend's dorm, I had to tape the ethernet cord INTO the wall-connector because it wasn't making contact, which caused him to drop connection constantly. Even to this day we have to pay exceptional caution so as not to disturb that stupid thing. I hope you fix your problems soon!
