How do you connect a printer to a wireless d-link computer?

Why can't I connect to a wireless network? My windows 7 computer just sais "Unable to connect to dlink". Help!?

• I have a Windows 7 Dell laptop, and in my house we dont have internet yet so we use my neighboors and my mom's computer has been getting signal from them fine, and so have I but my computers charger brick stopped working so we sent it in to BestBuy and they sent it to california to get it fixed, and since I got it back I havn't been able to connect to the network that provided internet. So far, I have ran spyware sweep several times, and my computer is completely clean of it, and I also have all cookies enabled for my laptop and ive turned off firewall and everything, I've tried everything I can think of, and I still cant seem to connect. My mom has Vista installed on her mac computer, and Im really wondering why her computer picks up internet connections while my laptop can't. Its been days and I still dont know why my laptop doesnt connect to open internet wireless network nearby. If anyone is reading this PLEASE REPLY and tell me what I can do, please add lots of detail, as I can get confused easily and reply as soon as possible I really need to know whats wrong with my computer

  There are a lot of things this could be: Dlink is a very common name... are you absolutely sure you are connecting to the same "dlink" as your mom, and that it is an open connection? What is your wireless signal strength? There should be a system tray icon to display it. The "unable to connect" message should have had an option to use the network analyzer to try and diagnose the problem. Do that, and submit a new question with the results.
