Whats wrong with my internet connection?

  • Ok, this has happened a few times I think this is the fourth time its happened. So yesterday when I woke up and went on my laptop, it said internet connected. However, when I try and open internet explorer I will get "This webpage cannot be displayed" or whatever, and I can't acess anything. I can't sign into msn, and when I try and troubleshoot it, it doesn't work. Acording to the msn troubleshooter there is something wrong with my DNS and Keyports. How can I fix this? The annoying thing is I AM actually connecting to a network. but I can't get on the internet. Btw if your wondering, if I can't get on the internet, how am I writing this, its because I'm using a friends computer lawls X_x". Help me? Its happened before, usually the internet will be back within a few days, but the first time it happened it took around two weeks. Please please please helppp X_X.

    Try to ping this IP - 4.2.2.2 . It is a publicly accessibly DNS server maintained by Verizon. If you get a reply, it means your internet is working but there is a problem with your DNS server configuration. I am guessing you are behind a wireless router that isn't properly forwarding the DNS information from your ISP. As a workaround, set 4.2.2.2 as one of your preferred DNS servers in your network configuration of your PC.

Shut off your router and/or high speed box. Leave it all off for a minute or two then re-power back on. IP addresses will be refreshed. The other thing is that you may have a virus affecting your connectivity.
