What is a good wireless router for my Dsl?

What would be a good router to go with a DSL Modem (Actiontec) for setting up a wireless network?

  • I'm using a Qwest broadband internet connection. I've been thinking about using a Netgear wireless G router, would one of those work? This is probably an obvious question but I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this.

  • Answer:

you cant really go wrong. Just make sure you buy a wireless router. Almost all modems have an ethernet port to plug your router right in. My recommendation would a linksys wrt54G router. If your laptop or whatever you want to connect to the wireless is 802.11n compatable and you have a little spending money you could also buy a linksys wrt610n which will increase speed and performance of your wireless network. Officially i would recommend the linksys wrt54G.

Which Qwest modem do you have? If you have the M1000 you can add wireless by purchasing the Wireless Module at Best Buy or other stores. Below is a video with more information on how to do this. http://www.actiontec.com/howto/h2_detail.php?id=27&cat_id=3 If you have the Actiontec GT701, then you will need to purchase a Wireless access point. You do not need a wireless router because the GT701 is a router as well as a modem.
