Active Directory Domain Services and DNS problems in Server 2008?

  • I have promoted my server to a domain controller in server 2008 but have not been able to join the domain on my windows 7 professional computer. I have made sure the server points to itself for DNS, and have DNS installed. After installing ADDS do I need to configure DNS? my domain name is domain.blw.local and I am typing domain in to my computer, but it will not find it. Both the server and the computer are in the same workgroup, and can see eachothers files. HELP!!!

  • Answer:

You should setup domain name response ona service itself for the protocol itself For example on Apache in apache.ini so that they know what to give you access to dependent on which domain you are calling for. One server can have several domains (and service software can provide different access or services to different domains even if hosted on one computer) Note: words "Windows, server, working" do not go together
