I need help with a wireless router.?
-
I bought a wireless router and USB Network adapter to use on my laptop. The existing router I have has 3 connections a power cord a ethernet line to my desktop and a line to my phone jack. The desktop computer I have has no plug in for anything but an ethernet line. The instructions I got with the wireless router indicate I can hook it up in parallel or by itself. If I hook it up by itself I am not able to get it to connect to my DSL even after running the installation CD. If I hook it up in parallel there is no second ethernet plug in on the wireless router. I am wondering how this is supposed to work. From all indications I should be-able to replace my existing modem with the wireless one still using an ethernet cable for my desktop and then have the USB network adapter pick up the signal from the wireless router. What am I doing wrong here? Any help is appreciated.
