Which is the best professional networking site?

Is there any free professional networking site like linkedin.com?

  • I recently joined linkedin.com after getting an invitation from a member.But after registering I came to know that one has to upgrade by paying a fees to contact the fellow members or to invite anyone to join network.Please let me know if there is any such professional networking site which is free.

    Pranjal, If you want to send a direct message to another user, yes, you have to upgrade to get an InMail. No - you don't have to do that. Most people do not. Use the "Introduction" feature to get introduced through your current contacts - with the basic account. Are you sure that you're on LinkedIn and not an impostor site? I've been using that site for nearly 2 years and have never paid a dime. I'm in regular contact with my contacts and have sent invitations to a number of folks, all without any cost at all. Unless something has changed in the last few days it should be free.
