How do I find my Wireless WEP key?

How do I find my computer's WEP key?

  • My laptop is connected to a wireless network. All three computers in the house run on a wireless network. Now I want to have Wi-Fi for Animal Crossing on my DS and my Wii, and I have everything set up. I tried the connection and it told me I needed a WEP key! Me and my sister searched through the Wireless Network properties, and we've got our IP address and all, but we can't find the WEP key.... my Dad has no idea what our key is, either.... HELP!!!!! :o

  • Answer:

On one of your computers that is connected to the internet download this program and it'll save a file to your "C:" drive with a list of all the WEP keys windows knows of. It doesn't always work right but give it a shot. http://wirelessdefence.org/Contents/Aircrack-ng_WinWzcook.htm

Okay, depending on your router go to your Explorer(IE:Mozilla) and type in 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. This SHOULD bring you to the Router login page .. Typical default login credentials for the router would be Username:admin PASSWORD:admin Or you may try just admin in the password slot. If you have changed the username and password, ask your father what it is. Once you have logged into the router homepage... Some routers default key is located on the bottom, next to their MAC address Look under these tabs: Wireless - Settings - Security - Advanced - Connection When you come to the correct page that has the key you will see some of these options: SSID Key1, Key, 2, Key 3, etc... Security: Drop down menu; None, WEP, WPA There will already be a key made, usally the deafult one located in key 1, if there are multiple keys already made, find the one that is highlighted/checked Write it down or you could copy an paste into a text document When thats all done, exit out (log off), your done

You will need to log into the router and go to wireless security, You can read the key. You will need to heck the manual for the exact method.

in firefox/internet exploreer type 192.168.1.1 in ur adress bar. The account is admin and password is password. Depending on the router the WEP will be in a diff area but look arounddont change anything unless u know what ur doin) and u should find it.
