Webcam not working, plz help me!!??!!?

i am trying to get my webcam to connect to AIM, how do i do this? i plug my webcam in, select video.... and then the other perosn cant c anything... i have a microsft cam... like a $50 one... so it isnt some cheap non compatible one either.... and i just cant get it to connect to AIM, please help!!!! thank you!!

Try restarting with the camera pluged in.
