How to connect to Xbox live through laptop wireless?

How do i use my laptop to connect to xbox live without using a bridge connection?

• Ok heres my issue. I connect to the internet using a free wireless connection in the city. My desk top uses this connection. I want to take that connection from my desk top and use the ethernet port to connect to my xbox. and play xbox live. it worked before and now after i went to get my laptop fixed because of a virus everything had to be reset of my hard drive. i didnt change anything before and now i dnt kno wuts wrong? everytime i test my connection it says it cannot find a ip address from a router or modem but i dont have either...when i set my ip settings, subnet mask, etc manually it says it cant connect using a static ip adress. i have ics on and allowed media sharing. i have tried opening a port through my firewall but i have no idea how...could that be the problem.....PLEASE HELP! i need modern warfare =(

• Answer:

  You need to turn your laptop into a router by setting up Internet connection sharing. That's probably what you had before. (It's off by default, which is why reinstalling Windows makes it not work.)
