How do I wifi from my wireless broadband router? Help!?
-
I'm using LINKSYS Wireless-G Broadband Router, model WRT54G I was told to look behind to see my network and password but I don't see anything like that? All i see is serial number and some barcode but it didnt seem to say its for wifi or something. Does anyone have similar router like mine and is able to WIFI from it? I actually have my own network name but the problem is I don't know the password (I always use ethernet using USB wire connected to my router) Its been years already. Another option is to restart my network since I can't wifi or forgot the password? But i worry I make mistake unknowingly. Help! I'm not good in doing this kind of thing.

Answer:
Get out the user guide for your router or download a copy from Linksys. Follow the directions to get into the router config page, then go to the wifi security area. If you do not see the password there set up a new one.

WRT54G linksys can do wireless your model has 2 antennas just for that purpose. Was just checking out your model at the Linksys web site and the user guide is also still available for download. I suggest you download it and read it to get more acquainted with the machine. All info is there for your reading. It would be quicker than having me trying to tell you in detail. That way for future reference you can always refer back to the guide. It is fairly complete compared to some guides. Also there are help pop ups that your router will show when you do get into the webpages of it. Jump in and get your feet wet. If you make a mistake so what just reset and try again. I f##k up all the time, its how I learn :) One more thing you probably are still using the default router settings because it sounds like you have never changed it from default. The default login is also in the guide.
THe password could be your phone number with area code unless someone in ur house changed it.
If you are plugged into the router with a cable you can access the router configuration page (assuming you have the admin password for your router.) Open up an internet browser window and go to address 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 once the page loads up it will ask you for a username and password. Don't put anything for the user name and for the password type "admin" (that's the default password if you haven't changed it.) Once your logged in along the top go to the tab called wireless. Once your there you should see all the settings for your wifi network (password, encryption, and everything else.) If im not mistaken the wifi password should be in plaintext for you to write down and then you should be set. If you need more help feel free to send me an email and i'll assist you farther.
