What is feature for MCA student if he doing ccna certification?

Career confusion... Software, MCSE, CCNA ?what to choose?

  • Hi. I am B.tech student . I don't have throughout 60% in my academics. Now, actually am not sure which stream should I opt to make my career in it. Sometimes I think to go for software development as am good in programing . But then my academics comes in focus and haunts me, as for software you need throughout 60% . Now, I have a cousin brother, who has been working in IT industry, as a Security Professional at Singapore for the past 13 years, suggests me to go for MCSE certification to get started. As my degree won't matter here. He also suggested me CCNA but MCSE first. He said that if I am going for software with these qualifications, I won't get more out of it. Now, this is what my confusion is, although am good at technical front but my formal degree is affecting my future. I am actually confused and not sure what should I do to get started, adding to it the current slowdown of economy resulting in job cuts. Please suggest me whether MCSE is a good option or should I go for CCNA first. Or should I stick with software, and in case of software, please suggest the available options for me. Please note that am not afraid of hard work but just want to ensure that I choose the right decision after consulting with experts. I am ready to go for any certification, like MCSE or CCNA, but are they good for start or software is good for my profile. If you have any other certification in mind, please let me know and also point out a reason for it, if possible. Please suggest whatever you can, as you may be doing it for 10 points but for me its my career. Thank you in advance for answering this question..!!

I say it depends on where you are looking for a job and what your long term goals are. I have my degree in CIS with a focus on Networking and I can tell you that after 6 years in the IT field (in the Detroit area) I wish I would have gone for the development side. Not only is there a little more freedom on that side of IT (can work remotely and etc), but it seems like the developers are getting paid better than us Infrastructure guys. I have also seen that people on the development side find jobs faster and move up quicker than people that take the Network/Server support route. This is only my opinion though and what I have seen here in the Detroit area and from the companies I have worked for. I was laid off from a large company about 1 1/2 years ago, and since then I have been stuck in the "contract rut"... I don't mind what I do and I am good at it, but if I was back in college right now I would go for the programming and development side instead of Infrastructure Support.

Hello Vishnu as ur cosin told u to go in Networking career I m not telling he is wrong actually what i thought Everyone suggest u to Go networking line bcz it is easy to get a job in ,if u have any certification but what my thoughts from the past 2years that it is very typical to grow much faster in this line .i m also not a throughout first class academic records but i m software engineer working as a Java Devleloper and if u have exp. there is some companies which want u have a good experience records with exp. if u just left Infosys as i exception if u have 2yr exp in S/w field u can get good call from lots of good indian and other MNC ,but what the -ve point is that u have to wait to get a job but if u have any source in any company to starts a job u will definitely overcome this -ve point. As in my case i have to wait 1and half yr to get a job after MCA but i m happy.
