Why is utorrent downloading so slow?

  • I just got a macbook pro (an upgrade from the old macbook) and i downloaded utorrent. I'm downloading 2 items at the moment, a movie which is 4.2 GB and a video game which is 6.7 GB. I had no problem downloading movies in my old macbook but i couldn't download the video game in the old macbook either. I have no idea what is wrong. I have a very good internet connection but it's not downloading at all! The maximum it downloads is 0.1 kb/s and it only does that for 1 second. I know there is nothing wrong with the internet because my sister is downloading movies using torrent as well, but with a dell laptop and it's downloading pretty fast (111.7 kb/s). Is it my laptop or something else? PLEASE HELP!!!! If you need more details please let me know!

    Open up the preferences/settings and usually most torrents will have a cap on the max & minimum speed that is allowed, or the number of seeders you can accept. If not try Bittorent, my preferred torrent client.

Personally I think there is an issue with Utorrent its been giving me problems for a month now, its been fine for over 2 yrs since I went to it, so I'm went back to BitLord & its fine so I can't understand what the issue is as I'm using torrents from the same site & Utorrent is too slow, compared to BitLord

It depends on the Torrent Seeders, and the date of when its got uploaded...old torrent tend to download much slower than new ones...

The more seeders and less peers leeching off you, then your speed will be higher.

it depends upon the number of seeders and leechers. More no. Of seeder hav grt download speed open your preference and set the unlimited download speed, right click the file u r dowloading and set the bndwidth alloctn highest try the above method and see if it helps. Thanks
