How to get correct URLs in network wide menu (Multisite?

How do I get people off my network?

  • I saw people on my network via Windows 7 network viewer thing, and see about 6 different people who are on my network. After seeing this, I put a password on my network. But, I think I waited too late, and people marked it as their own network so it auto signs them into my internet, I think. So, now I have a password, yet there are still lots of people leaching and stealing my bandwidth. I don't care if I have to hack into their computers, just tell me how to get them off my network please.

  • Answer:

Are you seeing people connected to your wireless router or are you seeing the available wireless networks in your area? If you're in Windows and you're looking at wireless networks (and one should show that you're connected to it), those are other wireless networks that are visible to your computer. That doesn't necessarily mean that people are sharing/stealing your network connection. To see if people are actually using your wireless network, you'll need to connect to your router's configuration page and there should be a place to view connected computers. Also, if you don't have encryption enabled on your wireless network, there is a good chance that someone is using it as well.

Mac Filtering, you can pick and choose which to boot off, your router should have a mac filtering setup (almost all do) basically anyone you dont want there you can kick off via ip, and sometimes even by name, so say if "Bobs Computer" is on ip address 192.168.0.10 or something, then you can block that ip address and a lot of routers are smart enough to be able to block computer id's as well. If you are getting hacked thru the wifi, disable wifi if you dont use it, and/or make sure you're set to WPA/PSK (i believe that, theres a reason why i dont work Tech support lol, lotta dohickys in my terminology) use a password no one can hack, do what i like to do, make your password like "!@#password123" where theres 3 special characters in front of a word then theres numbers at the end, makes it almost impossible for any sort of brute force hack software to break in. But I found out (living on main street here) if you aint using wifi disable it, everyone and their iphones will pig on ya, if you are using wifi, change up the password like i showed ya, if all else fails start mac filtering them off your router. My friend just paid 150$ in overages cuz he forgot about his wifi being on

After putting a password on the router, they will be unable to connect to your router. (even if it is saved, it will tell them "incorrect network password"). So if you successfully and correctly placed a password, then they will be knocked off your network. Hope this helps.

Close the router and then change the password again

MAC filtering among a few other things is what I do but I'm an IT professional so it takes two seconds for me to do, it may take hours for a novice to do. What I suggest is set up a password right away, make sure it completely random letters and number, upper and lower case. You can tape it on the bottom of your router. Unlike a computer, this is ok and actually suggested to do for home routers. Make sure you have WEP2 enabled which encrypts your password. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHi4-kA9Jk4
