What are some uses for an old computer?
-
I have two old computers, and I was wondering if I could use the old hard drives in a new computer (two in one), or if I could add the RAM and any other good uses for them.
-
Answer:
as long as the interfaces in your new computers support the old hardware, yes. if they really are "old" they probably won't. but you can make them into servers for your home network. i have a samba-share and vpn server both made from old desktops that where just thrown out by their previous owners.

The ram most likely cannot be reused. The hard drives you can re-use. Even if they are old pata drives you can get an enclosure for them and then connect your computer to the enclosure via usb. If they are sata drives then just put them inside your computer using a sata connector (most mobo's that are new have more than one sata connector)
