This lady has only a repeater and and she wants to hook up a router to it? her ISP is cable but they only gave her a repeater only and on the repeater it has a coax and one RJ45 jack on the repeater I know the router needs a cable/dsl modem but can you just hook up the repeater to the router and then hook it up to the computer so that she can have a hardware firewall as well. 1 hour ago - 1 week left to answer. Additional Details 1 hour ago and her ISP cable is fiber optic. and they told her that she don't need a modem for it and that is why they gave her only a repeater. 51 minutes ago the guy told me that box they gave her was ONLY A REPEATER nort a modem and on the repeater box it have a coax jack and a RJ45 jack on the back of the repeater box READ WHAT I WORTE THANK YOU. 12 minutes ago - 1 week left to answer. ON THE FRONIT OF THE REPEATER IT HAS TO GREEN LIGHT on it. and no it's not a cable modem or a dsl modem they say it just a repeater and if so well the router work with the repeater and no she don't want wireless only hardware.

If it is a signal repeater then it'll relay the fibre optic light into a data stream, so that into the computer will work fine if there is an option to. A router will work fine as well with it if the repeater is not needed.

If the "repeater" is supplying internet to her computer through the RJ45 connection then it will supply internet to a router if you plug it in there instead of the computer.
