  • ok so i thought i was good at solving these things....heres the situation. It was working... I took it out for a while for a different one... but when i put it in... the computer detected it.. xp reports no problems... but it wont read anything... i went ahead and bought a NEw one and a NEW cable... i try it it works, one time. Next restart, it was back to the same deal... computer detects it but it wont read anything.... W T F?

  • Answer:

You unload the driver when you take out and fixed it again, so go to device manger, click CD/DVD Rom, a window will appear prompting your driver is working properly if not then click re-intall driver, windows will search the drive and will install the driver itself.

Hmmm.. maby try re-installing the drivers

recommend for you to set the jumper connecter. its located next to the cable on the hardware device. you should set one as a master and the other as slave. also, it may be your OS(operating system) issue. try re-installing your OS. sometimes that may cause a issue as well.
