How to install windows XP on hard disk and install this hard on other PC ?

  • a friend want to install windows XP on his PC but he couldn't bring the PC and i can't go to him so someone told him that bring the hard disk only without case and will install windows XP on it and your hard will normal on your PC

  • Answer:

if you fit his HDD to your PC and install XP, it will be set up to run on your mobo - unless he has the same mobo as you, it is not likely to work. Best bet is to send him the XP disk - but if Microsoft detects that he is using the same registration key as you (when he does on-line updates), then "there will be blood" - be advised!

You can ONLY do this if the PC you want it on has space for 2 hard drives. If it does you would install it on the one you have give that to person. They would then have to physically install it on there computer. After they do this they will need to go into the BIOS and set it as the boot drive. You know when you turn your computer on the first screen that pops up BEFORE the windows one and it says you need to hit one of the F key's to change settings? That is how you get into the BIOS. After you get into that you need to goto boot settings and set the new one as the drive to boot windows from. Hope this helps

why not just let him borrow the install cd so he can do it himself. it's pretty simple to install an os. if he has any questions he can call you.
