How do i know the what type of PC and DDRAM module a particular motherboard uses?

• How do i know the what type of PC and DDRAM module a particular motherboard uses?? How do I know if it is a PC3200 and DDR I,II,III if i opened a motherboard with empty RAM module?? I mean, we can easily know what type of ram a motherboard uses if there are stickers/labels on the existing memory module but what if there are no memory/RAMs installed?? Is there a program to scan the type of DDR a motherboard uses?? and for other devices?? Thanks.

  If you know the manufacturer and model of your motherboard, you can simply find this information by checking with support or with the product manual, which can be found on nearly any manufacturer's websites. This is even easier if you are using an out of the box computer from a common manufacturer, such as HP or Dell, as their websites will also provide this information to you by searching for a product manual through their websites. If this is unknown, you can discover the make and model of your motherboard by using a program specifically for this purpose. SiSoft Sandra is an example. This will tell you the motherboard you are using, and in some instances, the exact type of ram you are currently using. Also, check Crucial.com. They provide a free scanning utility that will identify the types of ram that are available for use on your computer. I would still verify the information provided to you by this utility with the above mentioned resources before actually purchasing ram, as the utility is not always able to specifically identify the motherboard you are currently using.
