Graphics card...NVIDIA 9600GT?
-
am using LG L7747 Desktop:- intel core 2 duo 2.4 GHz320 gb, 2 gb ram, windows vista 32 bit my power supply as written on the smps is 250W(300W peak) i just bought a nvidia geforce 9600gt 1gb graphics card but i didn't get the driver cd of vista, the cd is just for xp and 2000...i inserted the graphic card in the pci-e slot(the black one).... but when i started the pc, there was no display. so i plugged my monitor behind my graphics card. then i got my display... but when the windows started, video quality was very bad, resolution was less and above all computer didn't detect any graphics card.i downloaded driver setup from the internet as the cd which came with it wasn't for vista...but when i try to install the drivers, it says "the nvidia setup could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. setup will now exit" i thought that it wasn't working because the intel G31/33 express or watever it is was getting in the way, i mean the older in built graphics adapter...so i went to device manager and uninstalled all the things there...then i restarted the pc. windows detected some hardware change, so i thought it must be detecting the card..it detected something but installed driver for it itself(standard vga adapter)... i manually updated the driver to 9600gt...but i still can't install the drivers i downloaded with setup... in the display settings its showing 9600gt 1024mb but when i use this GPU-Z application, it shows only 128 mb memory... one more thing, when i open the physx in control panel it shows no acceleration... have i missed something?, do i need to do something? or have i done something wrong? Please help!! Additional Details- i have downloaded the drivers from nvidia.com but still it isn't detecting the card according to me...coz it still shows the same message..."setup could not find....." in bios, i go to advanced...there are 4 options- cpu confin, chipset, onboard, usb something and one more... there is no video option in onboard there are 3 options in chipset according to me which are related to graphics... 1.initiate graphics ad[igd,pci/peg,peg/igd,peg/pci] 2.internal graphics memory[disable,enable1mb.enable8mb] 3.force x1[enable,disable] on my graphics card...there is no place for 6 pin power connector...is that a problem? or it must be somewhere there?

Answer:
The PSU is not pumping enough Wattage to actually power the card? My guess. The other thing is BIOS/EFI setup I would go, but PSU not enough is a very high probability to begin with.

1.get windows 7, home premium which is 64 bit 2. get another 2 GB Ram and install them or go to a pc shop and get them installed 3. Then again download the nvidia drivers and install the graphics card.
1. I have NEVER seen a LG desktop...maybe your bullshitting me but o well... 2. Your power supply isn't giving enough power....300W peak is probably minimum for that 9600gt get a 450W or higher power supply 3. Remove your graphics card drivers then reinstall 4. Gpu-z is only reporting 128mb of vram is probably because corrupted driver install
