  • Answer:

Your laptop is outputting an analog signal (VGA) Your TV is expecting a digital signal (HDMI) Simple cable converters just won't cut it. Probably the easiest solution isn't all that cheap - a $85 USB to HDMI video card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158263&cm_re=usb_hdmi-_-15-158-263-_-Product Please note that this type of card is NOT suitable for gaming, but it can handle smooth video playback.

GO TO CONTROL PANEL AND SEND THE OUTPUT SIGNAL FROM THERE EASY AND IF YOU DO NOT GET SIGNAL OLD LAPTOPS WON'T CONVERT STRONG SIGNAL NEITHER WITH THE CONVERTER YOU WILL NEED A VGA TV INPUT ALSO SO BEST CHOICE GET A NEW LAPTOP WITH HDMI OUTPUTS! STOP BREAKING YOUR HEAD I AM A COMPUTER TECH

Get a hdmi to vga and a vga cable, it should work then. Too many conversions can cause power issues.
