How Do You Run An Iso Image?

Issue with virtual Image drive replacing REAL physical CD/DVD drive?

  • **First off let me just say here that I have a Virtual Image Drive application called "Magic Disk" loaded onto my computer, for the purpose of loading ISO or UIF file's without an actual physical drive... if you've never heard of this tool, it's a widely used and very viable program from the developers of Magic ISO... I am currently having an issue w/ my physical CD/DVD RW drive in my Acer 7520 laptop... and that is it's not registering inserted CD/DVD's and is not even registering in Device Manger or Diskamagement... INSTEAD... what is registering is Magic Disk... the purpose of a Virtual image mount in computing is to run programs and files (ISO's) without the use of an actual CD/DVD drive for various reasons... BUT you still should be able to load CD/DVD's from an physical CD/DVD RW drive as well. My CD/DVD drive was working recently just fine.. and as far as I can tell is not damaged as it still spins the disks in the drive.. I'm not sure what my "drive path letter" for my CD/DVD drive was before, but as far as I can tell the CD/DVD drive itself is being replaced by Magic Disk... Magic Disk is establishing itslef as the only drive on my pc... when I load BIOS, there are two different CD/DVD drives listed... "CD/DVD" and "CD/DVD ROM"... I've tried changing the boot order to no viable outcome... does anyone else use Magic Disk that has experienced the same problem that can help me out here????

  • Answer:

Open up Disk Management, find your optical drive, right-click on it and give it a dedicated drive letter.
