Why won't my computer restore to an earlier date?

Can I safely restore my computer to a later date?

  • My computer was recently sent to the computer shop, where they had to restore it to an earlier date. But when they did that, they sent it back about 3 years. None of my backups seem to have worked, so I was wondering if it's possible to restore a computer to a later date so that I can try and get some of my lost fies back and transfer them to my new computer (if possible) and then put it back to the newly set date (so I'd want to go from 2007 to 2009 and then back to 2007.) It's the only thing I can think of to get those broken files back-and I NEED them. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

If you have a System Restore point still from the later date you could do it, but I bet when they took it back to 2007, they either killed it, or they probably just reloaded it altogether, losing all your stuff. you can also install Recuva and have it search for deleted files, maybe you can find some of them that way.

Give it back to them and have them figure out how to restore it. Its a mess you dont want to get into.

Pick a Restore Point that is more recent. That is what they are there for. Pick a time you know the files were there. If you find there are no restore points, then they probably reinstalled windows. If all else fails try file recovery software. http://www.active-undelete.com/

Type freeundelete into search...it might be able to get your files...
